The Thomasian Debaters Council (TDC), the official debate varsity of University of Santo Tomas (UST) advances against the age of historical revisionism with its debut social forum “Diskursong Tomasino: The Martial law Chapter” this Saturday, March 11, 2017.

Taking a jab against social media trolls, various historical revisionists, and present-day grievances, TDC introduces five fine-tune talks comprising various aspects of Martial law

such as religion, history, human rights violation, political impact. The symposium also aims to spiral the topics on its relevance to Philippine media. Speakers include former Human Rights Chair Ms. Etta Rosales and Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism Executive Director Ms. Malou Mangahas among others.

Asked about the nature of the event, project head Rafaella Potestades quipped “[the forum] was designed to correct historical revisionism being done by political machinist. The ability to inform and educate individuals allow a richer form of discourse. The world of ideas transfer to the social realities of life. We aim to foster the comprehension of the youth through the humanization of the harms of martial law and the forwarding of justice.”

The debut forum will be held at the UST Seminary Gym which is expected to house at least 300 participants.

It would start at 9 o’clock in the morning and would persist up to 5 p.m. Tickets are on sale at P100 for Thomasians and P150 for outsiders.
