American YouTuber Logan Paul has posted an apology after his controversial dead body video received a barrage of criticism.

The now-deleted video showed Logan Paul along with his crew at the Aokigahara forest at the base of Mount Fuji. It’s also known as the “suicide forest” for the high rates of suicide that occur in the area.

As they film the “haunted” forest, Paul and his crew come across a man’s body.

“Yo, are you alive? Are you fucking with us?” Paul asks from a distance.

“His hands are purple. He did this this morning,” Logan comments as they approach the body.

BBC reports that off camera, a member of the group was heard saying he “doesn’t feel good”. Paul asks that person: “What, you never stand next to a dead guy [before]?”

Paul mentions he wasn’t monetizing the video, including information for the American Society for Suicide Prevention, however, the pvblic have called the video “disgusting” and “disrespectful”.

Paul posted an apology on Twitter, mentioning he was regretful that he “handled that power incorrectly”. He adds at the end: “It won’t happen again.”

He posted another video apology, saying, “I should have never posted the video. I should have put the cameras down and stopped recording what we were going through.”

“I’m ashamed of myself,” he said. “I’m disappointed in myself.”
