Somebody call the Avengers because someone just stole Robert Downey Jr.’s original “Iron Man” suit.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the costume has been valued at over $325,000 and it disappeared where it was resting peacefully in a Pacoima storage warehouse. It was reportedly gone sometime between February and April 25 according to Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Christopher No.
It was reported that employees at that warehouse “just happened to check” on the suit on Tuesday, and saw that it was missing.
Los Angeles Police Department Sargent Barry Montgomery told Deadline that the burglary is currently being investigated by the LAPD. “It was reported by the storage facility that the prop was missing. It is considered a burglary,” Montgomery added.
It was the original red and gold suit which was first worn by Tony Stark in the 2008 Marvel film Iron Man that kicked off the Avengers franchise.
Tony Stark wore an updated version of his Iron Man suit in the latest Marvel film Avengers: Infinity War. The news comes in the wake of Infinity War‘s rise as possibly the highest grossing film ever, crossing the $1 billion mark already.
Hopefully, justice will be served and the suit will be returned to its rightful owner.
