Did you say Human Uber?

Technology has a way of making things a lot easier because there’s something called a “Human Uber” wherein you can make someone else live your life out for you.

If you’ve ever watched How I Met Your Mother, you’ll notice how Lily always dresses her bodypillow up into her husband aka Marshall, calling it Marshpillow. She makes it whenever Marshall’s not around, placing an iPad on the head for real life Marshall’s face in real time.

Well, it looks like researchers got the idea from there and called it Human Uber where a human surrogate will act as you while you’re in a remote area.

Researchers have perfected a way for you to stay social without actually having to leave the comfort of your own home again—by having a surrogate strap on an iPad mask and venture out into the world for you.

Japanese researcher Jun Rekimoto calls it the ChameleonMask, Select All reports. The Chameleon Mask has been called a “Human Uber” but it’s pretty much a mobile FaceTime, tbh.

Its website says the technology “uses a real human as a surrogate for another remote user.” The surrogate will be given “a mask-shaped display that shows a remote user’s live face, and a voice channel transmits a remote user’s voice.”

Rekimoto reportedly described the experience of using the technology as “surprisingly natural.”

Although it wasn’t disclosed on how the human surrogate would actually see because there’s an iPad right in front of them, we see the innovation for the homebodies out there. This one’s for you, fam!
