The Pvblic wants you to sign the petition to say no to Nickelodeon’s Underwater Theme Park in Palawan

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea [and hopefully not in Palawan]?

Nickelodeon has announced recently that it will build an underwater resort and theme park on Palawan aka the last ecological frikin’ frontier of the Philippines. And contrary to the firm’s press statement that it would “advocate ocean protection”, environmental group Greenpeace and the pvblic think otherwise.

“It’s sad and alarming because a theme park that big will not promote environmental protection by building those structures,” Vince Cinches of Greenpeace Southeast Asia said to AFP.

“Why build a viewing deck when you have the whole paradise to enjoy?”

Ron Johnson, the executive vice president of Viacom International Media Networks and the firm behind SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer, told press that Palawan was the chosen place for the development of the theme park as it would give the chance for fans to “interact with the brand and the iconic characters they love.” It “is known to have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world today.”

Well, the pvblic was taking none of it and everyone wants to sign Bataris’ petition to say no to Nickelodeon’s underwater theme park in Palawan.

It says in the petition:

“It will accomplish the exact opposite. By building artificial structures, you will undeniably damage and disrupt Palawan’s marine ecosystems — our Last Frontier. If you are sincere and serious about marine conservation, the money allocated for the underwater theme park should be invested in marine protected areas, sustainable livelihoods for local communities, and environmental education programs.”

Everyone wants to help spread the word.

Spongebob would be ashamed.

This is the best one yet.
