Star Trek Discovery

WTH is it:

Why it’s lit:

It’s one of the most critically acclaimed series on Netflix right now. It’s freaking awesome, with edge of your seats storytelling mashed together with a great cast. We haven’t event mentioned the twists and turns.

Daredevil

WTH is it:

A superhero show about a blind lawyer turned vigilante, Daredevil perfectly explores the psyche of the iconic, brooding Marvel character while having one of the best villains to ever grace the screen since Heath Ledger.

Why it’s lit:

Aside from the fresh, dark take on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Daredevil has one of the best frenetic action scenes in TV today. The choreography is breathtaking, as the fight scenes are presented in a way in which Daredevil looks like a real human being fighting for his life.

Rick & Morty

WTH is it:

Adult Swim’s most successful show in years, dark humor is the main driving force behind this iconic show. It’s a crazier, zanier version of Back to The Future, where Doc Brown is a bad mouthed buffoon, and Marty is a dumb as a rock.

Why it’s lit:

It’s highly addictive. We won’t spoil much, partly because we don’t want to ruin the fun, but mostly it’s too balls-out ridiculous to explain. If you love having your fair share of weird comedy, then this is a must-see.

Stranger Things

WTH is it:

A melting pot of 80’s references, the plot centers around a government conspiracy concerning experiments on members of a rural town in Indiana. A young boy eventually goes missing, and his friends and his mother discover that there might just be a parallel universe right next to ours.

Why it’s lit:

Watch it for the kids, seriously! They’re hands down one of the best casts on TV today. You’ll gnash your teeth at all the adventures they get up to. Try not to go “AWWW” when you meet Eleven. That is all.

Breaking Bad

WTH is it:

In just five seasons, Breaking Bad cemented itself as one of the best TV dramas in the past 20 years. It never gets old to see the quiet, shy Walter White turn into one of the most compelling anti-heroes ever, while he tries to hide his secret meth empire from his family.

Why it’s lit:

Whenever Walter White blows his lid, it’s instantly one of the best episodes of any series ever. The stakes are always high, but its Bryan Cranston’s excellent portrayal of a man slowly descending into madness that really takes the cake.

Black Mirror

WTH is it:

With a feel that is Twilight Zone-esque, this anthology show explores the consequences of today’s technology on society, and how our abuse of said tech could lead to our downfall.

Why it’s lit:

Since every episode is stand-alone, you never know what you might expect. It could be romantic and sweet; the next it could be creepy or action-filled. But what remains the same is that they are all intense.

The Crown

WTH is it:

The Crown chronicles the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, starting at the beginning until up to present day. It’s a dramatic take on a well-loved public icon as it unveils the previously unknown side to a Queen’s life, and the pressure it takes on her public and private life.

Why it’s lit:

The premise might seem a bit too… posh, but it’s storytelling at it’s finest, without boring you with historical facts and trivia. It also helps to have such a talented and award-winning ensemble cast.

Friends

WTH is it:

C’mon, it’s Friends! Do we really need to explain this one? Fine.

It’s about twentysomethings and their everyday life in Manhattan, complete with love triangles and hilarious mishaps. Doesn’t sound much? Wait till you watch it.

Why it’s lit:

It’s one of those series you watch whenever you need a little pick-me up during a gloomy, rainy day. It’s comedy at its best, particularly because the cast is sooo likeable. Just stop reading this article and watch it already! It’s too awesome for words!
