Blogger Mocha Uson was recently given the honor of being assistant secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and the whole ordeal caused a commotion among the pvblic.
The most popular talk about Mocha’s appointment is the fact that she’ll be given a grade 29 salary.
Rappler broke it down for us and apparently, the 2017 General Appropriations Act (GAA) aka the national budget states that “an assistant secretary is entitled to a total of P20,000 monthly RATA or representation (P10,000) and transportation (P10,000) allowance, a P5,000 monthly “extraordinary and miscellaneous” expenses (or a total of P60,000 annually for assistant secretaries), and a P2,000 monthly personal economic relief allowance or PERA (for all government employees).”
This is roughly the estimate of Uson’s salary excluding the bonuses: P133,454.
This is what the pvblic had to say about her grade 29 salary:
An Assistant Secretary has a salary grade 29 and earns Php 106k a month.
Part of our taxes pays Mocha Uson's salary. Let that sink in.
