LOOK: Hainan Airlines debuts haute couture flight attendant uniforms at Paris Fashion Week

This is on another high.

The 2017 Laurence Xu haute couture show in Paris debuted revamped flight attendant uniforms for Hainan Airline’s staff and it’s absolutely breathtaking.

The company’s website stated: “The uniforms that were showcased combine elements of classical, time-honored Oriental aesthetics and the silhouette of a modern Western suit, infusing new vigor and fashion into the attire.”

It’s inspired by the Cheongsam which is a traditional Chinese dress, with a blend of modern Western-style fashion trends and Chinese art elements such as cloud drawings, waves, and the Chinese mythical bird — the Roc.

The uniforms are all one piece and hemmed low:

The 3/4 sleeves denote simplicity and just the right amount of modesty, symbolic of the cabin crew’s high level of competence. The apron is designed like a tulip-shaped dress to emphasize, in equal measure, elegance, femininity, aesthetics and practicality. The Western-style draping incorporates popular international fashion elements alongside a sense of high-quality professionalism.

“The cooperation between Hainan Airlines and Lawrence Xu is industry leading. We are not only creating a new uniform but also showing the internationalized image of our airline. Especially on international routes, we would like to let passengers know that China is modern and trendy,” Xu Fei, brand director of Hainan Airlines, said.
