Angkas to DOTr: ‘Consider motorcycle taxis as TNVS

We The Pvblic

Angkas, the pvblic’s new favorite motorcycle-based ride hailing service, is now “considered closed” according to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Thursday, November 9.

LTFRB board member Aileen Lizada told reporters after she led the apprehension of 19 Angkas motorbikers without the proper permits.

“Considered as closed na [already],” Lizada told reporters.

Along with that, the Makati City government has ordered the closing down of the service for operating without a government-issued business permit in the city.

The app-based motorcycle hailing service has urged Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade to include two-wheeled vehicles under the Transport Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) category to “firmly put Angkas and all motorcycle-taxis under the jurisdiction of the LTFRB.”

“Angkas is committed to engaging the LTFRB to discuss the steps forward for regulating this industry. In the coming days, we will reach out formally to government to make this appeal.”

The app has been widely used by the Filipino pvblic as an alternative to cars, giving its passengers the ability to slip through the dreaded Metro Manila traffic, getting to destinations faster.
