Fasten your seatbelts and hold on tight, fellow Up lovers. Somebody made an actual life-size hot air balloon inspired by the Disney movie floating in Canberra right about now.
The Bristol-made balloon made its way to Australia this weekend, joining 40 other balloons for the 2016 Canberra Balloon Spectacular.
The Up inspired balloon is officially called Cameron TR-84 (We would’ve preferred Carl & Ellie Fredricksen/Russell but that works too). It has 600 tiny balloons sewn into the outer skin. The main balloon is 84,000 cubic feet in size, which is actually kind of small compared to other balloons.
Cameron Balloons pilot Simon Askey told BuzzFeed they have plans to travel the world with the Up inspired Balloon. True Wilderness Explorer.
Watching this novelty balloon take shape and lift off like it was a scene from "Up" was quite a treat! #balloonspectacular2016 #balloonspectacular #canberraballoonspectacular #canberraballoonfestival #hotairballoon #cbr #cbrmap_sky #cbrmap_festival #igerscanberra #thiscanberranlife #sofranksocial #31days #seeaustralia #visitcanberra
Askey said: “It was created to support the Disney/Pixar movie, Up. And we’re hoping to send the balloon to Japan later this year.”
Hope the balloon can visit Angel Falls one day aka the place which inspired the Disney movie’s Paradise Falls.
Who knows where else it could go? Adventure is out there. Carl, Ellie and Russell would be proud.
